Advanced Comfort Cares

Comfort with a purpose.

Advanced Comfort Cares is the part of this company that works on the houses we are not being paid to be in. A coat drive, the county food bank, and the plain fact that a warm house is not a given for everyone here.

What it is

Two programs, one county

This is a small company, so we would rather do a couple of things properly and for years on end than sponsor everything once.

Coats for Kids

Coats for Kids

Bring a new children's winter coat to our shop and we will hand you two free media filters, or one air purifier filter. The coat goes to Coats for Kids. You get something you were going to buy anyway, and a child in this county gets a coat that fits.

Sheboygan County Food Bank

We support the Sheboygan County Food Bank, which supplies the pantries and meal programs across the county. It is the least glamorous kind of giving and among the most useful.

Why a heating company

Why a heating company

We see the inside of a few hundred houses a year, which means we see which ones are cold. Heat is not optional in a Wisconsin January, and a company that makes its living from that ought to do something about the households where it is not covered.

The name we put on this so it stays a standing commitment rather than something that happens when somebody remembers. If you run a local cause and want to talk to us about it, call the office.

Coats for Kids

How the coat drive works

Four steps, and you can do the whole thing on a lunch break.

01

Buy a new children's winter coat

New, not used, and sized for a child. That is the only condition, and it is the condition Coats for Kids sets rather than one we invented — a coat that has already had a winter in it is not much of a gift.

02

Bring it to 1130 Michigan Ave, Oostburg

Monday to Friday, 7am to 3pm. Walk in with it. You do not need to be a customer, you do not need an appointment, and nobody is going to try to sell you a furnace on the way out.

03

Take your filters

Two free media filters, or one air purifier filter, whichever suits your system. Tell us the size, or bring the old one and we will match it. If you have no idea what size you need, that is a normal question and we get it daily.

04

The coat goes to Coats for Kids

It is distributed through the program, locally, to children who need one. We are a collection point and a reason for you to remember to do it, which is most of what a small business can usefully be.

Call (920) 564-2333 before you set off if you want to check the drive is running — it is seasonal, and we would rather you asked than arrived with a coat in July.

Straight answers

About the program

What is Advanced Comfort Cares?

Advanced Comfort Cares is Advanced Comfort Systems' community program in Sheboygan County. Its two standing commitments are a Coats for Kids partnership, where donating a new children's winter coat earns you free filters, and support for the Sheboygan County Food Bank.

How does the coat drive work?

Bring a new children's winter coat to 1130 Michigan Ave in Oostburg during business hours and you receive two free media filters or one air purifier filter. The coat is donated through Coats for Kids. You do not need to be a customer.

Does the coat have to be new?

Yes — new, and sized for a child. That is the program's requirement rather than ours, and it is a sensible one: a child receiving a coat should be getting a coat, not somebody else's worn one.

What filters do I get, and what if I do not know my size?

Two media filters or one air purifier filter, depending on what your system takes. If you are not sure of the size, bring the old one in or photograph the numbers printed on its edge. It is one of the most common questions at our counter and nobody will make you feel daft for asking.

Do I have to be an Advanced Comfort Systems customer to take part?

No. Walk in with a coat and you walk out with filters, whether or not we have ever been to your house. The point of the exercise is the coats.

Is the coat drive running all year?

It is seasonal, as winter-coat drives tend to be. Call (920) 564-2333 before you drive over if it is not obviously coat weather, and we will tell you whether it is currently collecting.

Can my organization ask Advanced Comfort Systems for support?

You are welcome to ask. Call the office on (920) 564-2333 and tell us what you are working on. We are a small company with two standing commitments already, so we cannot say yes to everything, but a local cause will get a real answer from a person rather than a form.

One coat, two filters, ten minutes.

The shop is at 1130 Michigan Ave in Oostburg, open Monday to Friday 7am to 3pm. Bring a new children's winter coat and walk out with filters you were going to buy anyway.
