Why people come here
Six honest things about working at this shop
Nobody here is asked to sell something they do not believe in
This is the reason most good technicians leave a shop, so it goes first. If you tell a customer their furnace has three good years left, that is the end of the conversation. There is no manager behind you re-quoting it as a replacement, and nothing you are paid depends on talking somebody into the bigger ticket.
You get to do the job properly
We measure incoming line voltage before an install. We check static pressure before we put modern equipment on old ductwork. We set and record manifold pressure on LP. If you have spent a few years being told there is no time for any of that, you will find the pace here different.
Two lines, known properly
Carrier for ducted, Mitsubishi for ductless. We service everything, but we install two lines, which means factory training that actually goes somewhere instead of a shallow acquaintance with eight brands. Factory Authorized Dealer status requires it, and we keep it current.
The owners are in the building
Jim and Aaron have owned this company since 2008. There is no regional director, no private-equity owner setting a close rate, and no call center deciding your day. If something is wrong you talk to the person who can fix it, usually the same morning.
You will not be driving three counties
Our work is Sheboygan County and the lakeshore south into Ozaukee. You will be home for dinner most nights because the whole service area is inside a reasonable drive of Oostburg, not because someone squeezed the schedule.
We hire people who are not finished learning
NATE certification matters to us and our technicians hold it. If you are not certified yet but you are good and you want to be, say that when you call rather than assuming it rules you out.
What this page deliberately does not do is quote you a wage or list benefits. Those are a conversation, not a banner, and you should be suspicious of any shop that leads with a number before it knows what you can do.
Who does well here
Three kinds of people we want to hear from
We are not always advertising a vacancy. We always read what comes in, because the right technician is worth making room for.
Service technicians
Diagnosis first, parts second. You will see everything from a 1970s boiler in a Sheboygan basement to a new inverter heat pump in a subdivision, on every major brand, not just the two we sell.
Installation technicians
Changeouts, new systems, ductless, hydronic. If you take pride in sheet metal that looks deliberate and a mechanical room somebody could photograph, you will fit.
People starting out
Not everybody arrives with a decade behind them. If you are early in the trade, or coming from another trade and willing to work, that is a real conversation worth having.
The honest comparison
What you may be dealing with now, and how we run it
Plenty of shops are run well. If yours is one of them, stay. This is for the people reading the left-hand column and recognizing it.
| What drives technicians out | How this shop works | |
|---|---|---|
| Who decides what the customer is told | A script, or a manager reviewing your quote | You, on site, with the owners behind you |
| Time allowed for a proper diagnosis | Whatever is left after the schedule | Enough to find the cause, because a callback costs more |
| Brands you are expected to know | Whatever the buying group signed this year | Two installed properly, all serviced |
| Who you escalate to | A regional number | Jim or Aaron, in the building |
| Drive time | Wherever the leads are | Sheboygan County and the lakeshore |
| What happens when you are wrong | It goes on a scorecard | We go back and fix it, and you learn something |
None of this means the work is easy. January is January, the calls stack up, and some basements are miserable. It means the difficulty comes from the job rather than from the company.
Straight answers
What people ask before they call
Are you hiring right now?
Sometimes, and not always — but we read every application either way. A good service technician is worth making room for whether or not there is a posting up, so call (920) 564-2333 and ask rather than waiting for an advert to appear.
How do I apply for a job at Advanced Comfort Systems?
Call the office on (920) 564-2333, Monday to Friday between 7am and 3pm, and say you are calling about work. You are also welcome to walk into 1130 Michigan Ave, Oostburg, with a résumé. It is a small company, so the person you speak to is the person who decides.
Do I need NATE certification to apply?
No, but it matters here. Our technicians are NATE-certified and we take that seriously as a standard. If you are not certified yet and you want to be, say so when you call — we would rather talk to somebody good who is working towards it than to somebody with the card who has stopped learning.
What equipment would I be working on?
Everything. We install Carrier ducted systems and Mitsubishi ductless, and we service every major brand regardless of who put it in. In a normal week that can mean a modern inverter heat pump, a twenty-year-old gas furnace, an LP furnace on a rural property and a hot-water boiler in an older Sheboygan house.
How far would I be driving?
Sheboygan County and the lakeshore south into Ozaukee County, all of it worked out of Oostburg. It is a compact service area by the standards of this trade, and it is the reason the schedule does not routinely eat your evening.
Why does this page not list pay or benefits?
Because a number on a web page tells you nothing about what the job actually is, and we would rather have the conversation properly. Ask on the first call — you will get a straight answer, and you should not accept a vague one from us or from anybody else.
Call and ask. That is the whole process.
No portal, no assessment, no three-week silence. Ring the office, tell us what you have been doing, and we will tell you honestly whether there is something here for you.
