Choosing a new furnace is easy with the help of Advanced Comfort Systems

If this is the year you choose a new furnace type for your home, these are the questions you should ask:

  1. Who can I trust for honest advice and a proper installation?
  2. What’s the best heating system for my home and my budget?

The answer to the first question is easy—Advanced Comfort Systems is an award-winning, Carrier® Factory Authorized Dealer with a solid reputation in the Sheboygan area. Our team is experienced and ready to help you with anything from choosing a new furnace type to repairing your existing one, any time of day or night.

The second question is a little more difficult to answer, because several factors influence the answer. Start by having one of our HVAC experts evaluate your needs based on heating requirements, existing ductwork and insulation, size and layout of your home, budget, and more. Then consider the two main furnace types and the benefits they can offer:

All About Multi-Stage Furnaces

Perhaps the most popular furnace type is a two-stage system that offers two levels of heating—regular power and high power. The first stage can usually keep up on a typical winter day—it’s only when things get truly frigid that the furnace ramps up to stage two to deliver more heat. Since the unit doesn’t operate at full power all of the time, it’s very energy-efficient. For lower heating bills and consistent comfort, we proudly recommend and install Carrier® two-stage units. Today we have an even better option for those that want even more comfort and efficiency—the multi-stage, modulating furnace. It adapts quickly to conditions and can run at 40 to 100 percent capacity for perfect comfort any time.

What Is a Variable-Speed Furnace?

The best performing furnaces are variable-speed models. Like the two-stage furnace, it has regular and high-heating power, but the blower or fan motor moves at different speeds. A “smart” sensor constantly measures temperature and pressure in the ductwork and adjusts fan speed to control the amount of heated air dispersed throughout your home. Even when the furnace isn’t “on,” the motor still circulates air, which means continual filtering for cleaner air.

New variable-speed furnaces are some of the most intelligent systems on the market. Though they may cost more upfront, you can expect significant savings over the equipment’s lifetime thanks to lower energy costs.

There’s even an AC bonus. When combined with a Carrier® Infinity® controller, these variable-speed fans will make any existing air conditioner work better and more efficiently by removing more humidity than a standard system.
